TrueCoach at moIRSA 2024 – Elevating Campus Rec Centers with Innovative Personal Training Solutions

From Our Partners

The TrueCoach Team recently attended the MOIRSA 2024 Conference at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. This event brought together recreational sports professionals from across Missouri to share best practices and ideas for enhancing the quality of rec center programs and facilities.

MOIRSA, the Missouri Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, is dedicated to improving recreational sports programs through professional meetings, publications, and the dissemination of innovative ideas. TrueCoach was thrilled to present alongside Eric Vaughn, Associate Director of Campus Recreation, and Tyrus Ayers, Graduate Assistant, both from Missouri State University.

Addressing Key Challenges in Campus Recreation

At MOIRSA, the TrueCoach Team and their Missouri State partners led a presentation focused on the pressing challenges faced by the university’s personal training department. The Missouri State team shared how they struggled with issues like single-source revenue, high trainer turnover, and low client success rates. TrueCoach stepped in to help them overcome these roadblocks by implementing a structured, multifaceted approach.

Eric Vaughn captured the essence of the problem: “The issue for us was that we just weren’t organized or structured throughout our personal training program. TrueCoach allows us to do many things that help our clients.”

With TrueCoach, Missouri State has transformed its personal training program through a new three-step approach that includes in-person, hybrid, and virtual training.

Three-Step Approach: A Path to Success for Trainers and Clients

In-Person Training:

This first phase allows personal trainers to assess clients’ movements and determine the specific support they need. By starting in-person, trainers can establish a solid foundation for clients’ fitness journeys.

Hybrid Training:

Time constraints are a common challenge for clients, and Vaughn emphasized that a lack of time was the biggest barrier to clients training more frequently. In this hybrid model, clients are given more flexibility, allowing them to work out at the Rec Center, at home, or even at a different gym, using TrueCoach to stay connected with their trainers and track their progress.

Virtual Training:

In the final phase, clients receive 30 days of personalized programming delivered via TrueCoach. This phase offers clients a long-term plan tailored to their goals, allowing them to maintain consistency even outside of structured sessions.

Results: Increased Revenue, Retained Trainers, and Client Success

The success of Missouri State’s personal training program has been clear. The structured approach has not only helped boost revenue by offering more flexible training options, but it has also helped reduce trainer turnover by providing a more manageable, rewarding workflow. Additionally, clients have benefited from tangible progress markers and achievable goals, enhancing their fitness experience and success rates.

TrueCoach continues to support campus Rec Centers like Missouri State by offering practical solutions that improve organization, client engagement, and trainer satisfaction. Our team was proud to showcase this success at MOIRSA 2024 and looks forward to future partnerships that empower university rec centers across the state
