Technology and fitness entrepreneur Eric Roza leads round, joins as Chairman
TrueCoach, the SaaS platform trusted by over 10,000 personal trainers to improve the health and fitness of their clients, announced today a $2M financing round to support their next phase of growth.
The round was led by Eric Roza, who joins TrueCoach as Chairman. Roza had one of the largest software exits in Colorado history as CEO of Datalogix, and is also the co-founder/co-owner of CrossFit Sanitas, one of the world’s leading CrossFit gyms. Other notable angel investors in this round include the founding CEOs of Alta Colleges (Kirk Riedinger and Jamie Turner), EverCommerce (Eric Remer), Moat (Jonah Goodhart), SpringTime Ventures, and current and former senior executives from ZenPlanner (Jeff Gardner), Adobe (Taylor Barada), Amazon (Tim Craycroft), Asurion (Gerald Risk) and HomeAdvisor (Adam Burrows). Notable previous investors include legendary OPEX Fitness founder James FitzGerald, Techstars, and Hilltop Venture Partners.

“The personal training space is exploding worldwide, as consumers increasingly focus on personalized health and wellness. Yet most coaches continue to rely on a frustrating patchwork of manual, time-consuming tasks and tools to program for and communicate with their remote clients, limiting both their effectiveness and coaching capacity,” said Eric Roza, incoming TrueCoach Chairman. “TrueCoach allows the world’s best coaches to dramatically increase their focus on the wellbeing of a growing roster of clients.”
Roza added, “From a business perspective, what most impressed me was Casey and Robbie’s operating discipline, and relentless focus on customer service and performance metrics to drive the business at such an early stage. It is extremely unusual for a SaaS platform to post triple digit growth once a seven figure run-rate has been attained without burning cash. We are excited about the potential to serve new markets and to bring new products and services to the global TrueCoach community.”

TrueCoach, based in Boulder, Colorado, was founded by Casey Jenks and Robbie Jack in 2015, and is a graduate of the TechStars Chicago 2016 program. Since launching, the company has delivered 21 million workouts to hundreds of thousands of people in over 80 countries.

“TrueCoach is on a mission to build the most powerful and easy-to-use personalized coaching platform ever developed,” said TrueCoach CEO, Casey Jenks. “The TrueCoach community already represents a who’s who of 10,000 of the world’s top coaches and hundreds of thousands of their clients in over 80 countries, and we see big opportunities to expand the products and services we offer to these groups.”

TrueCoach recently launched TrueCoach Connect, their messaging app for coaches (available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store) and will be releasing client-to-coach subscription payments soon.
