Top Exercise Tips Going Into the Holidays

November 5, 2021 By Jordan August Leave a Comment

When the holidays roll around we all want to enjoy ourselves right? I mean I know that I do. A lot of people who are on a structured program tend to drop off or take a few days away during the holiday time due to obligations with friends and family. Holidays tend to be a time for rest and relaxation, but they can also be a great opportunity to reset or continue your health habits and keep yourself accountable.

Here are three exercise tips you should consider when approaching the holiday season:

1) Be consistent

A little goes a long way. Whether your goal is to get better at a specific skill, lose weight, or gain muscle, regardless of the goal, being consistent should be at the top of the list. If you can’t keep up with your designed program during the holiday time there’s no need to worry. It’s more important that you do something. Five push ups are better than none, just as a ten minute walk is better than nothing at all. Any form of physical activity can keep energy levels high, reduce fatigue, and improve mood. Generally, working out in the morning can allow you to be more consistent because it’s easier to commit to and get done before the day’s plans get in the way. Changes don’t happen overnight so consistency is key, however, remember that missing a day or two isn’t the end of the world as you won’t lose all of your gains or progress.

2) Prioritize Sleep

When the holidays come around we want to enjoy good food, drinks, as well as family and friends. You don’t need to cut any of these out. However, making sure you get a good night’s sleep has numerous benefits. Proper sleep allows muscle tissue time to recover in between workouts. Adequate sleep is also important to boost overall energy levels in order to participate in exercise. Not getting enough sleep can lead to being less physically active by decreasing motivation.

3) Find a coach and use an app

We all can agree that thinking about what to do on an everyday basis when it comes to exercising can get daunting. When you plan to go into a workout blindly and are unsure of what to do it’s easy just to skip it. Even the best coaches have coaches. Having a specific plan for every workout that is easily accessible like using the TrueCoach app can take the thought out of your workout and allow you to be productive and efficient at the same time especially when times get busy.
