Before writing the first line of code for TrueCoach, we knew that a powerful and high-quality exercise library with great demo videos was going to be a key feature for both coaches & their clients. We analyzed the existing video libraries on the market, and noticed a few problems: poor to mediocre quality, horrendous form that put clients at risk, or, really great & in-depth content, but too long for the context of quickly viewing during a training session when you are in workout-mode.
We decided to launch into beta with no built-in defaults, and instead to give coaches easy access to attach videos on the fly and quickly save them to a centralized library within their account. This was a great first start, but coaches are already short on time, and long term this was not a good enough solution, which is why we’re excited to announce our partnership with Central Athlete!
Central Athlete is Austin Texas’s premiere individualized strength and conditioning facility that not only offers in-person coaching, but individualized remote coaching as well. They recognized the same problems with existing exercise content out there, and a few months ago they set out to create their own set of high-quality & to-the-point exercise demo videos, perfect for when you’re in the zone and just want to see how to do the movement without having to sift through a bunch of talk before seeing it.
Today, we are launching with 140 videos, with more to come on a regular basis. That includes more exercises, with text explanations for each movement as well. Coaches will still be able to add and use their own should they choose.
Here’s a sample of the quality you can expect:
We’ve also re-written the auto-complete component to handle an increased number of exercises, and added support for “fuzzy matching”, so things like “hpc” will match “hang power clean”, because the less typing you have to do, the more efficient you will be. Here it is in action:
We have some other exciting stuff in the works as well, so stay tuned! And if you need a remote coach, be sure to hit up Central Athlete.
